If there was ever a time to put something sparkly in a glass, it’s December.
These are the Christmas cocktails that look good and taste good – no peppermint nonsense, no weird cream liqueurs that separate after ten minutes, and absolutely nothing that reminds you of a hangover from 2012.
They’re festive without being fussy, pretty enough for a Christmas party, and easy enough to make even if your “bar setup” is just a prosecco bottle and hope.
Think vanilla, cranberry, gingerbread and a little sparkle – drinks that actually feel like Christmas instead of toothpaste.

Whether you’re hosting, getting ready with friends, or just want something nice to sip while wrapping gifts, these five are guaranteed to look the part (and genuinely taste delicious).
#1. The Candy Cane Cosmo (Minus the Mint)

Vibe:
Sweet, festive, and very red. It looks fancy but it’s easy to drink and doesn’t taste like perfume – just yum, smooth, and slightly Christmas-y.
Ingredients:
- 40ml vanilla vodka
- 25ml Cointreau (or any orange liqueur)
- 50ml cranberry juice (regular red, not white)
- 10ml fresh lime juice
- 1 tsp honey or simple syrup (optional, but rounds it out)
- Ice
- Sugar rim + mini candy cane for garnish
Method:
- Run a little lime juice around the rim of your glass and dip it into sugar.
- Add all ingredients to a shaker with ice and shake until it’s properly cold.
- Strain into your prepared coupe or martini glass so it looks glossy on top.
Serving Suggestion:
Hook a mini candy cane on the rim and tie a ribbon around the stem if you want it to look cute. Serve straight away – Pairs best with sequins, Christmas music, and mild hosting panic.
#2. The Sparkle Spritz 🥂

Vibe:
Light, fizzy, and ridiculously easy to make. It looks like effort, but it’s really just prosecco with better accessories.
Ingredients:
- 100ml chilled prosecco (or champagne if you’re feeling rich)
- 25ml elderflower liqueur or syrup (like St-Germain)
- 10ml lemon juice
- A few fresh cranberries
- Rosemary sprig for garnish
Method:
- Add the elderflower liqueur and lemon juice to a coupe or flute.
- Top slowly with prosecco so it stays bubbly.
- Give it a tiny swirl (literally one) so it mixes but doesn’t go flat.
Serving Suggestion:
Thread a few cranberries on a cocktail stick and rest it on top with a sprig of rosemary.
#3. The Mistletoe Gimlet 💚

Vibe:
Fresh, smooth, and a little bit fancy. It’s crisp like a classic gin cocktail but softer – think Christmas tree energy without the pine needles.
Ingredients:
- 50ml gin (a floral one works best)
- 25ml fresh lime juice
- 15ml elderflower liqueur or syrup
- 10ml simple syrup (optional, if you like it sweeter)
- Ice
- Red sugar rim + rosemary sprig for garnish
Method:
- Run a little lime juice around the rim of your glass and dip it into red sugar.
- Add the gin, lime juice, elderflower, and simple syrup to a shaker with ice.
- Shake until properly cold, then strain into your prepared coupe glass.
Serving Suggestion:
Garnish with a sprig of rosemary so it looks like mistletoe. Serve straight away – ideally somewhere with fairy lights involved.
❤️ How to Make Red Sugar Rim Mix
You’ll need:
- ½ cup white granulated sugar
- A few drops of red food colouring (gel works best)
- Small ziplock bag or bowl
- Baking paper or tray for drying
Method:
- Add the sugar to a ziplock bag or small bowl.
- Drop in a tiny amount of red food colouring – start with one drop, seal the bag, and shake or stir until the colour is even.
- Add more drops gradually if you want a deeper red. (A little goes a long way.)
- Spread the sugar out on baking paper and let it dry completely for about 15-30 minutes so it doesn’t clump.
- Store in a jar or airtight container – it’ll last for months.
💡 Tip: if you want a sparkly effect for photos, you can mix in a pinch of white sanding sugar or edible glitter once it’s dry.
#4. The Sugar Cookie Shot 🍪

Vibe:
Sweet, creamy, and festive – basically dessert in shot form. It’s small, smooth, and goes down far too easily.
Ingredients:
- 25ml vanilla vodka
- 25ml Baileys (or any Irish cream)
- 10ml Amaretto
- Dash of cream or milk (optional, for extra smoothness)
- Red sugar rim for garnish
Method:
- Dip the rim of your shot glass in a little cream, then coat with red sugar. (See the above cocktail for the red sugar recipe!)
- Add all ingredients to a shaker with ice and shake until chilled and frothy.
- Strain into the prepared glass.
Serving Suggestion:
Serve straight away while it’s still cold. Ideal as a little after-dinner treat or a “just one more” situation, you’ll definitely repeat.
#5. The Gingerbread Martini 🍸

Vibe:
Creamy, spiced, and a bit of a show-off. It’s smooth, sweet, and tastes like pudding in a glass.
Ingredients:
- 40ml vodka (vanilla if you have it)
- 25ml coffee liqueur or Kahlúa
- 25ml Baileys (or any Irish cream)
- 1 tbsp gingerbread syrup (or a dash of ground ginger + syrup)
- Ice
- Crushed biscuit or sugar rim + mini gingerbread man for garnish
Method:
- Dip the rim of your glass in a little syrup, then into crushed biscuit or sugar.
- Add all the ingredients to a shaker with ice and shake until cold and frothy.
- Strain into your prepared martini glass.
Serving Suggestion:
Top with a mini gingerbread man and serve straight away. It’s rich but not heavy – perfect if you’d rather drink dessert than make one.
How to Make Gingerbread Syrup
You’ll need:
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup brown sugar (light or dark both work)
- 2 tbsp golden syrup or honey
- 1 ½ tsp ground ginger
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- ½ tsp nutmeg
- ½ tsp allspice (optional but good)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Method:
- Add everything except the vanilla to a small saucepan.
- Bring it to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring until the sugar has dissolved.
- Simmer for 5-7 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Remove from the heat, stir in the vanilla, and let it cool completely.
- Strain through a fine sieve if you want it super smooth, then pour into a clean bottle or jar.
It’ll keep for about two weeks in the fridge (longer if you don’t double-dip your spoon).
Or skip the faff and grab the Mini Monin Syrup Gift Set, – it includes the gingerbread one and looks very cute on a coffee bar or drinks tray.
