I’m going to say this very plainly:
If you’ve got an idea you love, do something about it.
Not next month.
Not “once things calm down”.
Not after you’ve talked it to death with every friend you have.
Just… do it.

Because I cannot tell you how many conversations I’ve had recently that go like this:
“I’ve had this great idea for a business.”
“That sounds amazing.”
“I just haven’t done anything with it yet.”
End scene.
Roll credits.
Idea never heard from again.
Here’s What Actually Happens When You Do the Thing

I’m saying this as someone who has started multiple businesses and side projects over the years, so this isn’t theoretical. This is a pattern I’ve noticed every single time.
When you put something out there:
• Most of your friends won’t say anything at all.
Not because they’re unsupportive. Just because people are busy and absorbed in their own lives.
• A few friends will be loudly supportive.
These people are gems. Keep them forever.
• At least one person will mention it to your boss.
I don’t know why. I don’t know what their intention is. It’s not always snitchy, sometimes it’s just gossip. But it WILL happen. Every time. Like clockwork.
• Random people on the internet will be weirdly lovely.
Encouraging messages. Genuine excitement. Support from people who owe you absolutely nothing.
This has happened to me with every business I’ve ever started. It’s also happened to all my friends who started businesses.
Literally everyone.
It’s almost funny how predictable it is.
And none of it is actually that scary once you’ve lived through it.
If you’re in the phase of wanting to start something but feeling wildly underqualified, overwhelmed, or mildly unhinged by the internet, I wrote a very honest post about what starting a business actually teaches you – without the boss-babe nonsense.👉 11 Things I Wish I Knew Before Starting a Business.
So This Year, I Did It Again
This week, I started an Etsy shop.
Not because I had some huge business plan, but because I wanted cute, sparkly, pink images for my blog and I could never find exactly what I was looking for online.

And no – you can’t just take random images from the internet and use them. (I know some people think you can. You absolutely cannot.)
I wanted gorgeous images I could actually use properly for Instagram, blog posts, Pinterest, branding bits… without worrying about where they came from or whether I was about to get myself in trouble.
Soft pink lifestyle ones.
Sparkly beauty ones.
Pretty, feminine, grown-up, and actually usable.
So instead of settling or overthinking it, I made them myself.
And once I realised I wasn’t the only person who probably wanted images like that?
I put them up for sale too.
That was it.
The Part People Don’t Tell You Enough
Doing the thing is almost never as dramatic as your brain makes it.
No one drags you into a room.
No one interrogates you.
No one tells you to stay in your lane.
Mostly, life just… carries on.
And somewhere in the middle of that, you realise something important has shifted. You stopped talking about an idea and actually did something with it.

People are supportive.
Strangers are kind.
And you feel quietly proud that you followed through.
And honestly?
That part alone makes it worth it.
Also – slightly related.
If you’re the kind of girl who wants a business, you’re probably also the kind of girl who wants freedom.
Like… money freedom. Choice freedom.
Not panicking about everything forever. (Basically we want to be multimillionaires right? cos same)
I really wish someone had sat me down years ago and said:
“Cool, start the business – but also learn what to do with the money when it actually comes in.”
Because I earned for years and just… saved it.
No clue.
No strategy.
Just vibes.
And honestly? I’m still KICKING myself that I didn’t learn about investing.
I wrote a post about finally switching my money brain on if you’re also like “I want more freedom but I don’t know where to start”: 👉 Beginner Investing for Women: How I Finally Switched My Money Brain On
So Consider This Your Push
If you’ve been:
talking about an idea for ages
waiting to feel “ready”
worrying about what people might think
This is me saying: do it anyway.
People will either support you, say nothing, or mildly gossip – and then move on with their lives. You’ll still be standing there having actually tried.
Which already puts you ahead of most people.
Anyway…
Anyway – while doing the thing, I also ended up making something useful.
I needed pretty, on-brand images for my blog and Pinterest, and I couldn’t find ones that felt grown-up, feminine, and actually usable. So I made my own.
Soft lifestyle ones.
Sparkly beauty ones.
No weird licensing stress. No generic Pinterest stock everyone else is using.
Once they existed, I realised other people might want them too – so I put them in my shop.
If you want to check them out, they’re super cute and designed to be actually usable – for blogs, Pinterest, Instagram, or honestly just to share on your stories if you’re in a sparkly mood and want something pretty.
But the best part isn’t the shop.
It’s knowing I didn’t just talk about another idea and then do nothing with it.
So yeah.
Do the thing.
You’ll be fine.
If you’re feeling nosey – or you’re building something and want images that don’t look like everyone else’s – you can check out my Hello George Shop here.
They’re cute, sparkly, and made to actually be used ✨
(P.S. All the images in this post are mine! How cute are they!)
