Clinically Festive: A Case Study 🎅🏻🎄🎁
I told myself I’d wait until December to get festive. Then I bought a tree, a white dress, and suddenly Kelly Clarkson was blasting while I twirled around my living room.
I am, without question, the most Christmas person alive. 🤶🏻🎄❄️☃️🎁🦌
Like, clinically festive.

The run-up, buying gifts, the wrapping, the lights, the food, the chaos – I love it all. If it jingles, I’m emotionally attached.
By the time September hits, I’m basically Santa with a gym membership.
Honestly, my dream scenario? Summer seasons on yachts and winter seasons working as an elf in Lapland. ❄️🤍🦌🛷❄️
Like, can someone please make that a thing?
I’d be the most efficient, over-caffeinated elf the North Pole has ever seen.

💃 The Christmas Fashion Show
I went to the mall today to return a top (and for nachos), and obviously came home with a new Christmas tree and a white Cotton On dress that looks cute with my platform sandal Crocs (which I still haven’t worn, despite insisting they’re my “fancy summer” Crocs).

Anyway, the white dress try-on at home somehow turned into a full-blown fashion show in my bedroom.
Featuring: ✨ the 2019 Christmas sequin bow dress✨ – officially confirmed as my 2025 Christmas outfit.

Christmas music on, dramatic twirls and dancing, and sending videos to my boyfriend like it was Project Runway: Festive Edition.
(Honestly, I just wanted to share the photos because I felt cute, sparkly, and deeply in the Christmas spirit. 🤣)
🎁 The Tree (Round Three)
Last year’s tree was… tragic.
A fake plant that was already there, and I just put fairy lights and a hair bow on it. 🎀
This year we’ve slightly upgraded – emphasis on slightly, due to space.
She’s a 1.5m fake green tree, covered in pink and silver baubles, proudly standing on top of the crate where all my Christmas decorations live (with a tree skirt over the crate because we are creative and resourceful) 🎄💗
I am not the kind of person who makes a tree look Pinterest-perfect.
The baubles go wherever they land, and that’s the vibe.
It’s not giving Pinterest aesthetic…
It’s giving MSN with song lyrics as your status in 2005. 💅

Perfectly imperfect, but done with pure joy (and love for Christmas that honestly can’t be contained). 💖✨
As for the fake-snow tree from 2023: Pinterest absolutely catfished me.
Looked stunning online, looked insane in 30-degree heat with braai smoke drifting past. 🌞🔥
It shed fake snow ALL day long.
I was vacuuming like I was training for the Olympics. 🧹💨
She’s been in the box ever since.
🎶 My Christmas Playlist Is Elite
Here’s the link.
Current obsession: Kelly Clarkson’s You For Christmas – certified banger. 🎧
I was singing it in the car on the way home from the mall today, absolutely convinced I could hit her notes.
Spoiler: I cannot.
My singing career actually ended when I was 12.
I auditioned for Grease at school (and at the time, told NO ONE) – sang four words of Hopelessly Devoted to You, realised I sounded like a broken flute, and cried.
The teacher said, “it’s okay, take your time and try again,” and I was like, “no, it’s okay” and left looking like Sadness from Inside Out.

And that was the start and tragic end to my singing career. 🪦
Acting, on the other hand, I used to love being in the school plays at primary school. Not sure what happened (possibly the awful teacher we had who clearly hated children). But I think I’d still enjoy it now if I actually tried it.
Anyway, my Captain literally wrote in my work appraisal recently that I have a great sense of humour and “Georgia is the best dramatic actress onboard“.
Why, thank you.
Also –
Accurate.
I love a theatrical faint at literally any (very) minor inconvenience.

Anyway, back to Christmas –
Not to brag, but as a superyacht crew member, I am the person you want on board at Christmas.
Basically, Mrs Claus in a skort – I bring the vibe and the sugar. 🤶🏻🍫
Think: Baileys by the coffee station, mimosas ready for breakfast, the best chocolate stash known to mankind, and a mulled wine recipe that could make Gordon Ramsay emotional.
I’m up before sunrise on Christmas Day, setting everything up, clearing wrapping paper after Secret Santa, making sure everyone has gifts and topping up everyone’s drinks.
When I go back to work, I’ll be coming in hot for Christmas – no fenders, full sleigh mode. 🛳🎄💅
🧶 Knitting, Chaos, and Parental Supervision
This week’s personality trait is knitting.
I’ve just spent two weeks with my parents (who still won’t let me move back in – outrageous), and honestly, they’re the best. Mum patiently taught me to knit (again – for about the fourth time in my life) – but this time, I am determined. I am currently knitting a scarf (or I hope it’ll be a scarf by 2027!) 🙄🙏
Things went rogue within the first eight rows. Holes, weird loops, tension all over the place – pure chaos. I just stared at it like, hmm, I guess that’s just what my scarf looks like now? 🤷🏻♀️
Mum disagreed.
She’d take it from me, unravel several rows, fix everything, and hand it back as if nothing happened.
Meanwhile, she’s over there knitting a literal 3D moose 🫎 – with four needles, making tiny boots and a snout. It was witchcraft.

I also went to Hobbycraft for wool.
Simple task.
Five minutes later, I’m holding a sketchbook and pencils like, “maybe I’ll take up art.” 👩🏻🎨
Had a word with myself in the aisle – ma’am, you already have six unused hobbies at home.
Put it back.
Now I’m back in South Africa, unsupervised, and one dropped stitch away from emotional ruin.
🏖 The Beach Walk That Defeats Me Every Time
Mum, Dad and I went for a walk along the beach promenade (it was not warm 🥶🥶🥶!!!) – it’s about 8km total, so not a marathon, but also not a chill little walk around the block.
Mum and I wore our dry robe-inspired coats and looked like a little sponsored comfort cult – 10/10 would recommend.

By around the 3km mark, I’m questioning everything.
Am I hot?
Am I hungry?
Both?
Probably both.
Could it be the 800 layers I decided to wear “just in case”?
Also yes.
And every single time we do this walk, I think “I’ll just have lunch after the walk” – as if I don’t know myself by now.
Like clockwork, I hit that exact same point in the walk where I suddenly NEED food immediately or I will perish. 💀
Cue the emergency M&S stop.
I go in thinking I’ll grab a sandwich, maybe a smoothie. I leave with Percy Pigs. 🐷
Every. Single. Time.
They then become my breakfast, lunch and dinner for the next few days, because apparently, I have no self-control and can’t just buy one pack.
🎁 Wrapping It Up (Literally and Emotionally)
So that’s me: knitting questionable scarves, eating Percy Pigs for lunch, and living my best early-Christmas-in-October life.
Happy (early) Christmas, friends. 🎄💅🏻
